Watercolour Painting with Kate Shires
Watercolour Painting Workshop
Learn how to experiment and develop your watercolour techniques in this series of workshops! All available to book individually or together as a course.
WEEK 1 (9th July): An Introduction to Watercolours
We’ll teach you a range of techniques that are fun to experiment with, and don’t require any past experience. This will include using other materials to create exciting effects! There will be an opportunity to continue experimenting with your favourite techniques during a guided tutorial, where each artist will create their own unique watercolour painting.
WEEK 2 (16th July): Using Watercolours for Illustration
Still life will be used for inspiration, as well as an opportunity to use your own ideas or the material available in the class. The illustrative techniques can be applicable to making paintings, cards, books, gifts and more!
WEEK 3 (23rd July): Create an Artists Book
You'll work on techniques we've learnt and make your own designs on paper with a variety of watercolour techniques learned in previous classes. These papers will be used in a book making tutorial, where you’ll learn how to make your own Artist Books, step-by-step.
WEEK 4 (30th July): Experimentation and Exploration of Techniques
The fourth class will give you the freedom to use the materials and techniques from all previous classes, to inspire your own watercolour creations. All materials will be provided for you to experiment and develop your watercolour style. You’ll be able to continue your own exploration of the techniques and skills learned during every workshop in your own time!
This class is taught by Kate, who studied Art & Design at University of Leeds. This has allowed her to develop a range of painting techniques, from small to large-scale painting, using watercolours, inks, and oil paint. Kate’s artworks are inspired by landscape, with the aim to inspire the viewer to be mindful of their surroundings, and enjoy the beauty of nature.
